Broward County

Broward County LogoThe Broward County 40Year Building Safety Inspection Program ordinance specifies that certain buildings must be inspected and recertified by a licensed professional  engineer (or architect) when a building reaches 40 years old and at 10 year intervals thereafter.  This ordinance does not apply to single-family and duplex residences or to minor buildings of 3,500 square feet and less.  Failure to obtain recertification will result in loss of the certificate of occupancy for the building.  Minimum inspection standards are established by the County.
